loss of power with new controller
I have a 92 EZ-Go that is 36 volts. The batteries are 1 year old Interstate ut220 workhorses. The cart has a new 480 Logisystems controller, 4 gauge wires throughout, 5 inch lift and 22 inch tires as well as my homemade rear seat. The cart is a dog on a even the most mild hill. This is discouraging being I just bought a new controller. My question is, I am looking at going to 48 volts by adding 2 more 6 volts in the bagwell and a new 48v solenoid. Will this get me the hill power I need on the original motor? Speed is not a concern, the wife just hates when the cart slows to 2mph going up a hill. Any help appreciated. Also, is there a universal solenoid that will work with my cart? Thanks. I should state that it is not slower with the new controller, I just have not gained any noticeable difference.

Re: loss of power with new controller
Even new batteries can be bad and it only takes one bad cell in one battery to significantly affect performance. Best to get a discharge test done on the batteries but lacking that then check voltages of each and specific gravities of each and every cell.

Re: loss of power with new controller
Thank you. I will hookup my multimeter and take it for a spin and see how the batteries react. I will post the results.

Re: loss of power with new controller
48v will help the heavy metal get out of it's own way. Quite a bit actually..... I think you can run a 200 amp solenoid with that controller. They make a cheap generic model from forepar. Your favorite sponsor can get it to you.
