Default How to start a Big Block?

Hey guy's, lately I've been thinking of doing the big block swap, but I was wondering if you can still set it up to start with the foot pedal? I really like the convenience of this feature, has any one done this? and if so how? I have an 05 CCDS

I say no, it's not possible. or recommended. The starter uses a return spring key switch. If you wired it to the pedal, I don't see how you stop the starter from spinning once the motor starts...

I agree with Mike, I know it could be done with some engineering but it just would not be real efficiant. The BB's are just a different animal.

Could you fab up some brackets and run the cart starter/generator and belt?
Assuming you could use a clutch with the pulley.

I have a clutch on my bb with a pulley so I could do this but mostly for use of the starter gen to charge another battery. If I knew how to wire it I would try

It can be done if you use a starter/generator. I have had a couple customers do it. Big thing is finding the space. The EZGO ST480 used a Vanguard with a starter generator. Would give you a preview how it was done.

Some guy that wanted to buy my cart wanted to do this. I think he called Tom and decided it was too much for him to manage. He wanted to use my cart for golf though which I didn't much care for. The guy that finally bought it uses it to pull his drag car to the start line. Much better choice for my cart.

Yeah it was golfers who did the mods to change starters to our Vanguard kits, Sounds like a waste of some awesome HP to drive it on a golf coarse.
I bet one trip down the fairway at 40 MPH would get you un-invited from the country club.

Never done it, Maybe someday. Seems like if you hit something with a CLUB and it dosen't get back up. Why chase it down and club it again.
