thank you sir for the quick reply. i am upgrading my ds series system and smoked my new controller and for the life if me couldnt figure what caused it and why it wouldnt turn the rear wheels. i sucked it up and have another one coming. im very greatful that if this is what caused it i will definately remove that ground to the frame. "live and learn i guess" hopefully if anyone sees this thread and is tempted to do what i did they can save the same results i got. thenk you again

I’m a little late for this now, but definitely don’t do that! Among other reasons, it makes it very dangerous to work on. Anything can cause a short.

Do not ground to the frame as it is a safety requirement.

If for some reason there is an issue with brushes or motor internal wiring
and it contacts the motor housing, the high voltages applied by the controller
would be dangerous as the frame and your body would be exposed to it.

Always use an isolated negative buss bar for your accessory ground terminations.

thank you very much. im getting vluable info from you all and will definately take note to be careful nothing goes to hard ground on the chasis and i will be hooking everything to the buss bar provided
