Re: 96 will not run
I used mac tools carbon pile load tester, loaded to 75 amps and watched the voltage drop, the batteries are trojan-T605, three years old, have been taken good care off, connections, cables all kept clean and in good shape

Re: 96 will not run
Voltage is stated at 36v, what is actual voltage reading when the solenoid clicks and you try to go? Thanks

Re: 96 will not run
on the battery side of solenoid it is 37.3 on the controller side with not accelerator pedal it is 36.9, stays the same when accelerator is pushed
thanks for all your help |

Re: 96 will not run
You should have the same voltage reading on both sides of the solenoid lugs when it is engaged. Are you sure you're hearing it click when you press the pedal? If it's clicking and you have the voltage readings you posted, your solenoid is bad.

Re: 96 will not run
Quick way to check solenoid.
Attach a DVM lead to each of the big terminals on solenoid. Press pedal until solenoid clicks. DVM should read Zero volts, or only a few Milli-volts. If it reads more than that, the solenoid is bad. With pedal up, if there is a resistor across the terminals, you'll get about 3V-5V. Without the resistor, it'll be full battery pack voltage. Be aware the cart might move when solenoid clicks, so take proper precautions. Last edited by JohnnieB; 01-11-2012 at 09:11 AM.. Reason: Added thingy about cart moving |

Re: 96 will not run
John, to clear things up for NOVICE readers here, anything less than 1v is a good measurement across the big studs?(I already know the answer)
Thanks |

Remember, the amps when the solenoid first clicks in minimal. If the pedal is adjusted right, it should be only what the controller is drawing to run its electronics. To each their own, but if I was getting a 0.1V drop at full throttle going up a steep hill, I'd be looking for a solenoid that didn't waste energy. Another thing to remember is at any voltage drop across any cable, connection, contact or component in the high current circuit is energy wasted. |

Re: 96 will not run
hey guys, thanks for all the help, I have it fixed, was the throttle sensor, new question though if you don't mind? how much difference will heavy duty cables make on power and length of run time, can I use one ought copper cable and make my own ?
