hey mates,
the issues is this 2006 ezgo txt cart original Trojan batteries (except for one newer battery) ran fine until the other day i started to smell a little smoke. i stopped the cart and saw that one of the wires that is connected to the charge port looked like its rubber casing had melted a little bit! please advise on what I should do! thanks so much! |

I'd disconnect the other end of the two heavy wires going to battery pack and measure the resistance between them with an Ohmmeter. There should be no continuity between them.
However, the only time any significant current flows in those wires is when battery is being charged, so I take a closer look at the interconnecting cables (and connections) between batteries and the cables to controller and motor. That is were the high current is when running. |

thanks mate! I just went out and noticed that the battery terminal bolt was very loose. so loose that the cart would not even move. would a loose terminal connection like this cause that small wire to heat like it did? it looks like it heated all the other cables at this terminal as well....

Yes, a loose connection can cause a lot of heat, in fact they can melt battery terminals.
Inspect battery connections monthly and clean/tighten as needed. |
