Default Motor shorting out! Ideas?

Hi guys. So I starting a new thread on an old problem. Long story short, I could not figure out why my alltrax controller was sending a short circuit code so I dropped the cart off at a shop. They told me that the short was in the motor (they put a different motor in and it worked just fine). Before I go and tear into the motor and really mess things up is there anything I should be looking for? Something I could replace that’s a known problem? Thanks guys.

I'd look and see if there was a local motor repair shop in town.

Don't try to do that yourself unless you really know what you are doing. Motors are trickier than people think. Just about any alternator shop will service motors. Save yourself a headache and let them do it. I had a shop here in Pittsburgh restore a 50s era frozen cart motor for $275 and that included $70 for brushes. You'll be a lot less than that to repair a ground. That said, depending on how old the motor is I would go ahead and have the brushes replaced since the motor has to be opened up anyway.
