Post EZ Go sluggish in forward run

I have a ez-go 1985 144 cc that does not rev up in forward motion. But does better in reverse motion. It has a new ignition and new carburetor. Fuel pump
pressure is 4lb and has good filter. Any suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like the ole crankshaft seals strikes again. You may be installing them shortly.

Correction this is an EZ-go 1985 2 cycle 244 cc not 144cc
Thanks for information. Have any other ideas? I don't know how to go about replacing
the seals. Do one have to pull the motor ? Thanks again J C

Yep you'll have to pull the engine which is simple. The crank seal are located behind the drive clutch and be hind the flywheel.I does take a special tool to remove the drive clutch and a steering wheel puller to remove the flywheel. After that both seals can be installed from the outside. For more info on the drive clutch tool which can be made just do some searching on here and you'll find all the info you need.Get the engine out order your seals 2 needed one for each side and just ask for help.

Go to the home page and search 88 2 cycle clutch repair or look at the other post for ezgo. In short you'll need a 3/4" hardened fine thread bolt 2" long and a piece of 5/8 steal rod 3" long. Remove the center bolt insert rod in the hole then put some lube on the bolt as not to screw up the threads screw the bolt into the clutch and crank it off. A little PB blaster around the hole may help the removal and its a whole lot easier if you have an impact. When screwing in the bolt if it seems like you going to over tighten it and mess something up nows the time to give the bolt a good wack with a hammer. IT WILL POP OFF sometimes it just needs some help.

That sounds kind of what mine is doing. Before you pull the engine for the crank seals, put on a spark tester and run it, with the seat off so you can look at the spark. sit on a 2 by 4 or something. Watch and see if the spark is misfiring. Mine is doing this and i replaced the whole igintion with the exception of the pulsar inside the flywheel.

I just ordered one now.
