Default self discharge and charging

Is it beneficial to battery life to keep a float charge on when cart is not in use between regular charges?

Yes. Lead acid benefit from storage at float voltage. Check the datasheet for your specific battery for recommended float voltage. Most lead acid batteries float at 2.25V per cell, but this can vary depending on ambient temperature and age. I would highly recommend testing before leaving a cart unattended for long periods.

Thanks for the information. My cart sits a lot (sometimes months) and I've just been plugging up the PowerDrive once a week. I saw where a few guys were floating theirs between regular charges after usage. I may look into that.

if everything is working right your charger almost acts like a maintainer if you leave it plugged in........when batteries get down to a certain point the charger will come back on and top off..........................................
