I use this little voltage regulator I got off ebay and a laptop power supply i got at the thrift shop. supplies up to 5 amps with voltage regulation (my laptop ps only does about 3.5amp), you set the voltage you want, it takes care of the rest. Works up to 30 volts input, but if your input supply voltage is closer to your desired output voltage you get much tighter control (knob is pretty sensitive with 30v input). I use it for all kinds of electrical projects, Its currently set for homebrew nickel plating.
