Checking motor
Just bought a 1994 EZ-Go Marathon, trying to get it to move, it is a 36v and batteries test good, you hear no clicking noise when you press the pedal, is there a way to cross the motor out and check to see if it is good? thanks--and as far as a Marathon, I think thats what it is, its a 94 and has three batteries on each side. thanks for the help

Re: Checking motor
Motors rarely die in these things! Does the solenoid click when you push the gas with the key on?
What is the voltage reading across the battery pack? |

Re: Checking motor
Check the voltage across the pack with a DVOM.

We'll assume you have a controller cart with two packs of three batteries on either side with controller, solenoid, pot in center under the environmental cover. Make sure the battery cable connections and terminals are clean and tight. Make sure motor connections are clean and tight. If you mess with the motor connections just make sure to back up the jam nut and avoid twisting off a post inside the case. Check all the micros for function and continuity. Especially the micro at the potentiometer that connects to the controller and the solenoid. Check the condition of the yellow varistor between A2 and B+ on the controller (if so equipped). Got a reverse buzzer when FNR is in R? Get a wiring diagram and trace and confirm all wiring checking voltages as you go. If all checks, then jump the solenoid and see if you can get the cart to move. That should keep you busy for a bit! |
