Smile Western Golf cart 1995

Hi,
I have a 1995 western golf cart, non dcs model that wont go. Replaced bad solenoid, batteries are good all conections are good. Had the controller checked out and thats good. How can I check the motor and can I run it directly to battery to check it out. Could use a wiring diagram also. Appreciate any help I can get.

Welcome to BGW!

What voltage is your 95 Western, 36v, 42v or 48v?
What controller are you running? Curtis? Model? How did you check the controller to ascertain it was good??
Why did you replace the solenoid?
I doubt it is a motor problem, likely wiring.
The wiring for the cart is essentially the same as the EZGO Medalist/TXT carts of the same year.

Hi, Thanks for the reply! The cart is 36v, the controller is stamped EZGO and nothing else. Took the controller off to a ezgo dealer and they had a rig set up to test it, and it tested OK. Solenoid would not click so I replaced it and still have a problem. Contunity at motor checks good, whatsleft that I a missing.
Thanks , Alan

Did you just change the solenoid because it wouldn't click or did you measure it and confirm it was bad?
Let's get on the same page here so we don't miss something obvious. You stated the batteries are good, what is the total pack voltage? It should be somewhere around 38.2v in a fully charged state.
Here's a battery state of charge chart to help:

Is the diode across the solenoid OK? I'm not sure if this wiring diagram is correct and haven't verified with my cart but at least it will give you a hint at what is associated with the control circuit. Sorry for the size but at least you can read it.

Is it possible to test motor with wheels up and hooking motor directly to battery?

Yes it is but not likely it is bad... Is this a series cart? If so use the test below. Likely you have a bad micro switch at the F&R or such. Have you checked to see that you have both the pos and neg at the small solenoid terminals for activation?

Hi I am back, was out of town yesterday. Neg and positive at small terminals w/ key on and accelerator. Don't know what you mean by series cart and there was no test mentioned below
