Re: upgrade or not?
I had a lifted DCS on big tires with a blown motor. Apparently they don't like to be held WOT down hill in an over-rev situation.... That cart had an alltrax 400DCX on it too. Just a word of caution on the DCS in general they do not do well in low voltage situations. Best to get a voltmeter installed, calibrate it and watch it.

Re: upgrade or not?
OK, now you all have me scared.
Is my cart DCS??? Based on what I read, I though it was DCS. The controller in it is the Curtis P/N 73144G06 The motor has the following P/N is 73124G01 and another number on the motor is AY4-4001 Rating AU2500 Fleet speed. The Controller box has a "run" and a "tow/maintenance" switch. The Date code says 1998 Here are some more pics. (Including the bike) |

DCS controller.....
I am pretty sure based on my research it is a DCS cart....time will tell . I even looked up the current controller and it is a replacement controller for the factory DCS one...I think...still learning here. |

Re: upgrade or not?
Okay ....... I'm gonna be straight with you here, NICE BIKE!
The DCS Drive system was only made for a few years and then EZGO dropped it in favor of the PDS and series carts .... They had a problem with low voltage situations... they ate controllers. All you have to do is avoid any low voltage (weak or drawn down batteries) and you should be okay.... Honestly, (and this is what we do best) it is not the first choice. This is just my opinion, others may differ! |

What is considered a "low voltage" situation? This is good advice. I will research how others are installing their volt meters. Mike |

As for the DCS not being the first choice, I understand. I bought it before I realized it was a bad choice. I will just have to make due, and when the motor goes, I get to upgrade |

Re: upgrade or not?
Guage on the dash is the voltage meter for the batteries, really not what Scotty is talking about. What you can do to this cart is all or nothing! Clean it up, try to sell it and start looking for a series cart. Or, plan on replacing controllers / motors when problems arise. Yes, they will arise on a lifted DCS.
