Default Trying to get a handle on batteries

OK so i go around today looking for batteries and make some phone calls, can't get any trojans local, exide, car quest brand(who ever makes those), autozone, etc.

Going to try some cart shops this afternoon.

My house in on a hill, the barn and shop down behind the hill, i want to be able to run back and forth with this thing, should i be thinking about a 48v system, it's 36v now, should i buy 8v batteries(as they will fit) so i can go to the 48v?

start looking around on the site to get an idea how best to proceed then find someone using 12v batteries, other people have gone to 48 and fried components.

what's the best way to proceed?

Resistor cart then? As for batteries ... some are better then others. Search the forums there are a lot of discussions on different manufactures. Exide makes them for a lot of places. US Battery I think makes interstate also. Check the forum search.

OK well just realize that most of the info you read here are upgrades to controller carts. I don't see anything about souping up a resistor cart. But your post is on batteries and I need to stay on topic. I don't know if you have a local commercial floor sweeper/scrubber place.. but they order batteries in bulk, the same as used in golf carts. Good luck with the battery hunt.

is there a batteries plus near you? i got mine there ysterday, they had them in staock for 87 bucks i think. couldn't tell you the quality of them as i just got them, but for everything i have needed batteries for they have been right on and better priced. my cart had NAPA batteries in it but NAPA want 147 bucks each so cheaper prevailed in this case. ;)

You could also check out Sam's Club for batteries, less than $80 each.

got 6v elcheapo's figure it's a beater anyway.

Need to get a solenoid now, got it running, then it stranded me, solenoid clicked no go, tapped on the solenoid and it started working.

will have to see after it has some time on the charger but it really slows at the top of my hill. if i upgrade to a controler over the resistors will it help with power on the hill?
