80 Grit sand paper works good ... scratch hell out of the drum and shoes. Shiny surfaces are bad. They indicate more sliding than grabbing. Bottom line is Ezgo brakes are weak. You can improve them but, ... you may need to look into front disc brake kit if you really want some improved breaking ...... GL

If you get them adjusted properly you will be able to lock up the brakes. I just think your not doing something right.
