Default Need help on wiring solenoid

I have a 89 ezgo medalist and it works somtimes and then i will just quit i checked the solenoid and i have power going into it and on the small posts but none going out some times it will just work and go out whenever it wants to so my question is i have a solenoid from a 91 ezgo and it look different will it work on my 89 and what wires go on the small posts if u can help i would appreciate it thanks.

It should work, The small posts are not polarity sensitive, just be sure when you install it you keep all the orig wires together on the same small posts they were on together or alone? Hope that helps..... don't mix them up.

The post are different the original one is like a standard solenoid all post in a row this other one of the 91 is square and the small post are across from each other i just dont want to wreck something.

I hooked up the other solinoid and i have power to the 2 small post and the 1 going into the coil and hit the pedal and it melted the black wire going to the little black box so i dont know what wrong now?

A solenoid is an on/off switch. The two small post activate a connection between the large posts.... the 2 small posts will activate the switch when a positive and a negative charge is applied to the 2 small posts. Do you have a voltmeter? IF not, you may be better off getting some help. Sometimes it is cheaper than melting a bunch of stuff

Im going to buy a voltmeter so i dont wreck anything more because it blew the the black wire that goes to that little black box wright off the connector.
