Cart charger receptacle
Hello again. I've finally figured out that the charger receptacle and the charger cord plug don't always make a good connection. So when I thought it should be fully charged because the charger stopped it, in reality was not. I wiggled the plug in the receptacle and got the charger to start so it appears that is where the problem is.
Th cart is a 96 EZGO TXT. The FNR switch is behind the driver's knee. Can the connectors in the cart end be renewed successfully? What about the charger cord end? Or is the cart in usually the culprit? Can they be tightened up to make a better contact? Thanks for your help. KIX |

Re: Cart charger receptacle
First thing I would do is wire brish the contacts on both the cart & charger to make sure they aren't tarnished.

Re: Cart charger receptacle
Yep, I did the male contacts but I'll have to find a brush small enough to get inside the female ones.
I could replace the contacts if anyone knows what the Radsock style / type / part # is. Or maybe some spray contact cleaner Last edited by Kix; 06-02-2010 at 09:02 PM.. Reason: added info |

Re: Cart charger receptacle
EZGO now offers a charge receptacle rebuild kit, We use these kits quite often on our used carts. It's 1/2 the price of replacing the entire charging receptacle, Radsocks alone are quite expensive!
The choice is yours - Thanks Gorn for the suggestion |

Re: Cart charger receptacle
Hey Scotty - next time you rebuild one, eliminate the reed switch and just add the OE 60 amp fuse to the positive wire at the battery. fuses are 1/2 the price as a reed switch. FYI - EZGO stopped using a reed switch system sometime in 2005 or 2006...
