Default 2003 EZ Go Electrical Problems.

Hey all.

new guy here. i have a 2003 ez go. it is an electric cart, i'm not very familiar with these so i'm going to try my best to post up all the info on what is happeneing and what kind of golf cart i have to give more info to you.

it has the key on the "dash" and has the light that indicates battery life. the cart also has the FWD and REV switch between the key switch and the battery life switch.

I was riding it around when i came to a corner. i drove around the corner and all of the sudden the lights went off and everything just slowed down. now she won't do anything!

we've looked for loose connections and checked out everything. i noticed one of the battery cables was really hot and looked like it was burnt pretty soon after this happened though.

any help would be great, and if i need to give any more info i can try my best.

Any help would be great. thanks guys!
-Blake

Welcome!

Now check your cables and make sure they are all good. Rule of thumb if you don't think it looks good it probably isn't! Replace the burnt/melted cable and tighten all your electrical connections. After all that, you need to make sure you have the proper battery brackets/tie downs. If they are loose or missing, your batteries will move around and cause you tons of headaches, not to mention leaving you stranded.

Let us know how it goes and don't be afraid to ask anything.

Where is the reed switch located and how did you isolate it down to that?

Yes, just get in the habit of running the charge cord thru the steering wheel. The reed switch is a safety interlock that prevents drive off while charging.

Within charge receptacle. Basically similar to a fusible link but much pricier if replacing.
