Basic idea and concept to set wiring on my Precedent
Ok, so I have some plans for my "08" Precedent, that includ a lighting kit, stereo, and power for a mobile device such as and Iphone or ipad.
I am trying to get a grasp on the basic concept to wire everything up and just need a little clarification. I am running 4X12v set-up and the first thing I am going to do is get a lighting kit installed. Should I install a 48v to 12v converter for the lights or just go ahead with running an accessory battery that can power the lights, stereo, iphone, etc? If no accessory battery is really needed, do I install a converter between the pack and then run the converter into a fuse box to power my accessories? As you can see I am very green here and I could use some advice on the best set-ups to maximize battery life and keep everything up and running. Thanks for the help guys. |

the best way is a converter hooked to the hole pack, hook the converter to a fuse box, accessories to the fuse box, and all grounds go to the battery post, NO grounds to the frame

I have been looking for converters and see some that are pricey and some that are really cheap. Is there any need to spend $100+ on a converter, when I can pick one up for $30-40? |

Blue Sea Systems makes a very nice fuse box that you could use for your application.

Don't skimp on a converter. More is better! A 25 AMP should be minimum if you plan on using lights, stereo and possible decoration light for the holidays!
