48v-12v converter
Does anyone have a suggestion for a 48v-12v converter? I had a cheaper one I installed in my 97' cc Reagan that I converted to a IQ. The first one blue out at about eight months. The vendor replaced it but now the second one went after about 2-3 months. I only use it for lights but I may put a horn and possibly a radio on it. Quality at a reasonable price with good recomendations would be great! Thanks Guys!

Re: 48v-12v converter
everyone has their own favorites but if your adding more than lights don,t buy a cheapie....................like i said everyone has a favorite so your gonna get several different ones..........i,m not sure who makes this one but it seems all the newer C.C,s have the same one installed i know its aftermarket and runs about 80 bucks but i have havn,t seen any issues with it and its a very compact size and easy hook up.................its about the size of the voltage regulator ion gas C.C,s so finding a place to mount it is a breeze.....everyone i have seen is mounted right in the middle of battery pack.......if your adding a radio get one that will handle the amps and is fusable or at least put a in-line fuse in........................................

Re: 48v-12v converter
I sell a 30 amp - 400 watt capacity 36-48 > 12v reducer with an on-off switch circuit for $128. A lot of the cheaper units stay on all the time which is one reason why they burn out.

That looks good Scottyb, wish I would have got that one, mine did not have a switch so I got a high voltage toggle switch and keep it off unless I am using it, lights only at this time.

Re: 48v-12v converter
Another good switch is a relay like the ones in the battery chargers. Then have the key switch activate the relay, the reducers should not be on all the time.

Re: 48v-12v converter
How does this connect to precedent wiring harness or does it? I have 2010 Precedent with 6-8V batteries.

Re: 48v-12v converter
Connections are simple enough. There are 2 wires for 36-48v input and 2 wires for 12v output. The install diagram is below and there are clear wire by wire written instructions included as well. It comes with a fuse in line on the main 48v positive in (red). Smaller size makes it easier to locate. 7x4x2
