Rxv charging receptacle issue
I have a 2009 rxv that I have not used in a couple of year but decided i would put a bed on it and use it for work. The cart it self work great hooked a set of fresh batteries and it goes, but the charging receptacle is giving me trouble. when the red and grey wire is connected to the main positive everything is normal but as soon as i put the black wire to the main neg, light goes solid green on the receptacle and the cart wont move at all no selenoid click no nothing. Help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Re: Rxv charging receptacle issue
There should be a blue wire from the receptacle to the controller that tells the cart that the charger is connected and to NOT RUN. Apparently the receptacle is thinking the charger is plugged up. Maybe bad receptacle. You should read battery voltage on that blue wire with no charger connected, and no voltage with charger connected.

Re: Rxv charging receptacle issue
If that's the case with yours, I had the same situation about 2 weeks ago. Hook everything up, no charger, and you SHOULD have battery voltage on that blue wire. When you plug the charger, you should LOSE that voltage. And cart wont run. You can UNPLUG the blue wire and use a jumper to apply voltage to the blue going to the controller and the cart should run. That was my case. I had to replace the charge receptacle.

Re: Rxv charging receptacle issue
Just as a thought, you may want to try plugging and unplugging the charger several times to see if it will correct itself.

Re: Rxv charging receptacle issue
Here's another thought, something I have ran across with a TXT more than once, but never with an RXV. When a cart sits for a long time, dirt dobbers will fill those pin holes with their concrete like mud and the D-plug handle will not plug in and make contact for the charger to work. I have cleaned them out with an ice pick to clean that out. The blue wire on an RXV works different than the reed switch on a TXT, ( but effectively the same principle ) and I dont know what the ramifications would be of dirt dobber nests in an RXV plug, but I'd take a look at it. That blue wire doesnt have to have 48 volts for the cart to run but it DOES have to have at least 16 volts or more. That's what the controller is looking for in order to enable the cart to run. 48 will be OK, but it will run on 16 or more. Since you have the green light burning when you hook the black, then I'm betting the controller thinks the charger is plugged in, for whatever reason. A handheld diagnostic analyzer in "LIVE MONITOR" mode will probably show as charger "ON" . If you cut the blue, and jumper it to charger receptacle positive, the cart will run, BUT it will also then run with the charger plugged up. A cheap workaround alternative to buying an $80 receptacle. Leaves you in jeopardy of driving off with charger hooked and damaging cart or charger.

Re: Rxv charging receptacle issue
The blue wire needs 48 volts... Here's the issue... On the back side of the receptacle where the wires are the Blu and red are on same lug.. The problem is look closely above them.... U will see a rectangle box THAT YOU CAN'T GET Into unless you cut it.. Inside is a little circuit board with a NON REPLACEABLE 30 amp fuse that's probably blown... That will make the cart not run nor charge... How do I know this.. Took me two fn weeks to figure it out.. Jump the blue wirs to pack + and cart will move but will not charge...unless you replac receptacle
You can replace the fuse but now it's open to water damage.. Or put a jumper to connect both blue and red and install external 30 amp in line fuse link... Cover the jumper you made with a water sealiant.. If it blows s again replace with 30 amp fuse... Or replace receptacle... Ezgo really screwed up on this.... This is also the same with all ezgo 48 volt carts with the RXV type plug.... Now giving 48 volts to.the blue wire then turn on key breaks will unlock cart will.run . |
