I have done everything again, removed oil filter cleaned it out, cleaned the carb again, removed the jets and checked they were all clear, refited the carb, 1.25 quarts of 10/ 40 oil put in, buggy started but needs full choke to keep it running,
Smoked like hell again but think that is the rubbish that was left in the piston sleeves, smoke reduced after five minutes running, any advice on why i need so much choke? I never needed that before, so any help or advice on that will be good, thanks to everyone for your advice

Oil should be 1.5 quarts, so dont run it too low.

After it warms up it still needs full choke to keep it running? Did you adjust the choke plate so that its full open when it should be and full closed when all the way out? How is your throttle linkage adjusted?

Are your fuel lines clear and fuel pump working as it should? Does it run without needing full choke if you take off the air filter?

Thanks, will remove carb and recheck everything you suggest, oil level is correct, so only the carb to check out, carb cable fitted when choke fully open and no tension on the cable that would hold it slightly closed, will check and let you know,

I don't have experience with these carbs but I have worked on many small engine carbs.
If it will not run unless it has heavy choke there must still be blockage in the carb.
There could still be a lot of excess fuel in the engine but since it has ran for five minutes I think that would clear that out.

There are small passages in this carb that could still be plugged somehow.
I would do as others have stated and dip that carb in cleaner for an extended period of time.
Ultrasonic dip would be great.
Blow it out real good with air and try again.

I would have suggested removing any welch plugs but from the diagrams I don't see any in this one.

Good luck! You will get it soon!
