1988 MAYBE?? EZGO... this will be fun
Just picked up an older ezgo gasser. I'm not 100 sure on the year since the tag is missing. The body and undercarriage are real clean. Just needs freshened up.
THE ISSUES It has no fuel pump. Nothing. Just a line from the tank to the carb. I am assuming this is not correct but I've never played with a cart this old. It has good spark and 100psi compression. When I force feed it fuel it sputters and backfires in the exhaust and breather. I'm looking for a picture so I can figure out if anything else is missing.... wish me luck [IMG][/IMG] |

It's older than 88. Show us some engine pics.
How many microswitches are on the FnR switch? If that's the muffler that I see horizontal behind the engine, it's an 83. You can directly load pictures to this site by using the go advanced button down below, and then clicking the paperclip. That way when photobucket changes their policies again, we won't be looking for your picture. |

Fuel pump should be low on the back facing side of the engine. If it's actually missing there's probably a open hole down there. You would have little to no vacuum to draw fuel through the carb and pressure to push it to the upper cylinder.

Re: 1988 MAYBE?? EZGO... this will be fun
Definitely an 83.
The pump should be bolted where that brass fitting is, so yes you are losing the airtight crankcase seal. You are also missing the front fan shroud. Without that, the cart will overheat. EDIT: I see the shroud in your first picture on the ground. I have to wonder what else they did wrong. Hope that they didn't put the piston in backwards. 100 psi is good. Get a pump on there, make it air tight, and it just might run. Pumps are around $30. Factory setup is gasket at the engine, then thick plastic spacer, and then a rubber "O" ring between the pump, and spacer. The "o" ring comes with the pump. |

These are the site sponsors. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php
I have had good luck with golf cart king. You will probably have to make the spacer. I think aluminum would work just fine. |

This is the gasket. https://www.golfcartking.com/ezgo-**...ket-1978-1991/
The spacer is the same shape about a half inch thick. The original is black plastic. I have seen them made from layers of rubber. I think a chunk of aluminum would be perfect. The pump showed up at the bottom of the gasket page. |
