Hello all just wanted to get thread started on my project my first cart. I believe it is an 87 ez go gas marathon. I picked it off of Facebook market place. I picked it up as non running but the motor turns over and seems to have compression of some sort. Will be trying to get it cleaned up and running. Hopefully it's ok if I post updates and questions here.

Looks like somebody took it apart that didn't know what they were doing. I hope the engine shroud came with it.

It's so far apart, you should probably just yank it out now to change the crankshaft seals.

It looks like it quit running, and they gave up.

This is a manual that you can use.

I think you are correct. It did come with the shroud. The motor was just sitting in the cart and one of the mounts is pretty busted up. Is there something missing on the end of the motor? Do people keep and trust the oil mixer on these or is there a simple way to mod and just run pre mix?

The end of the crankshaft had a slot to drive the oil pump. I can't tell if yours is still there.

Your pump is still on the front shroud. Throw it away.

The intake manifold has a hole for the oil injection banjo. Plug it airtight with a 6mm screw. Mix your gas 128;1. One ounce of oil per gallon of gas.

Maybe they took it apart for that busted mount. It might still run.

Not my best welding job ever but seems like it should hold. Only seems to hold the muffler on any way. What tools do I need to get at the crank shaft seals? I'm assuming a steering wheel puller for the fly wheel but how do I get the clutch off the other side?

They actually make a puller and thankfully I've never had to buy one myself because they're crazy expensive for what it is.

I'm sure someone on here has figured out another way. Maybe they'll chime in.

Today I got the fly wheel off and tried to get the drive clutch off. I got a 5/16 piece of steel rod the hole then used a 3/4 bolt in the crank shaft and have it really tight but the clutch just does not want to pop off. I'm just going to leave it tight overnight and hope it's loose tomorrow.

I used an impact on the bolt. You could also try giving it a good smack with a hammer on the head of the bolt.

Definitely have done both. Still nothing hoping time helps. Almost sprayed some pb blaster all over everything.
