No it does not, just the diode on the small posts (unless yours was built in and then it would have a + on one and a - on the other). The diode should have the silver band that is located on one end hooked up to the small post with your positive activation wire.

If the solenoid is not closing "clicking", then take your DVM and check the 2 small posts for 48vdc. You should have the 48v (+) on one post and you should get the (-) on the other post. You have to be missing one or the other or the solenoid is faulty out the box.
