When you press the pedal that switch closes and sends voltage to the solenoid making the solenoid too engage.

ok thanks again! so if the switch was broke could it damage anything else on the cart?

what sort of symptoms would happen or would I notice with a non-functioning micro-switch?

A lot of times when the arm breaks, the only thing that happens is the solenoid will stay engaged all the time until the key is switched off. Cart would run normally except for that.

That switch basically just turns on and off the high current cables from the battery to the controller when you press the pedal.

When the proper switch is installed and the plunger properly adjusted the cart wont move until the pedal is slightly depressed. You need to follow the instructions adjusting the plunger.
