Cart runs great but when it gets hot if I stop it won't run
So my cart runs great. But when I run it for any amount of time and I stop it will not run for 5 minutes or so. When this happens I press the gas pedal and absolutely nothing if I wait 5 minutes it runs great again and I can run it for 2 hours with no problems but the minute I stopped I have to let it sit any help would be appreciated. 2004 txt gas cart

I had the same issue once, Turned out to be the starter solenoid.
Worked cold but would fail when hot. |

If it's the Solenoid yes they are like 40 bucks from just a sponsor or Amazon. Just disconnect wires from old one and on to the same spot on the new one. Really just need a socket or combination wrench set. Just be sure to get a golf cart solenoid one for your cart and not one for a car or a tractor.

I would test it first. All you need is a 12 volt test light.
A solenoid is nothing more then a switch. You have a large wire going to one side that has voltage all the time, check that. When you go to start the small wire then has voltage, witch activates the connection inside the solenoid and sends voltage to the other large wire going to the starter. check to see if you have voltage going to starter after its hot. If you do not the, more then likely its the solenoid. If you do have voltage to starter but engine is not turning over? Then I would be looking at the brushes in the starter. Most of the time just a good cleaning and sanding the brushes flat will make the starter work like new again. |
