Default Onward Accessories, buy from Club Car or Aftermarket?

Hi everyone!

I've been reading up on the Onward and have a few last questions prior to placing my order this week. Below is what we are planning on purchasing, but wanted some input on if all of these items are worthwhile to buy from Club Car or purchase aftermarket. We will be using this for around the neighborhood and on the course.

Onward 4 Lifted Electric
Premium Seating
14" Kraken Wheels
Tinted Windshield
Hidden Storage
Side Mirrors
Rear Cup Holder
Overhead Bluetooth
Battery Care Kit
Brush Guard
Fender Flares
Receiver Hitch
Golf Bag Holder

Is it safe to assume that any aftermarket part that is made for Precedent is compatible with the Onward model?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, anything for the Precedent will fit the Onward. Some items on the list come standard with the lifted Onward(windshield, brush bar, fender flares). The rear seat is a double take Max5 with a club car sticker on it. So I imagine the hitch is double take as well.

Actually, surprisingly the hitch is not a Double Take part. The DoubleTake version of the Max5 has a vertical support welded right in the middle that the hitch bolts to. The hitch is made as a channel and the vertical support goes down the middle with bolts going through. It's ok, but you have to use their hitch and there is not square tube so no other items that can be used with it other than a ball.

The Club Car version omits this piece. On the vertical supports on either side, around a third of the way in from each side, there are holes. The CC hitch it much larger and extends to this and is bolted in. In addition the hitch also extends back to under the bagwell and bolts up through the rear structure into it.

Once everything is in place the floor cannot be folded but becomes extremely strong.

As for other accessories.

- The 4' lift is actually a 6" All-Sports lift. Go either way. I also don't fully get it either but I have confirmed that is what it is.
- Premium seats are exclusive to Club Car. There are other brands out there but the ones you see on their website are made for them. I bought them and have them on my Precedent as they are very comfortable. Used them for 2 weeks this last summer and they were well worth it.
- 14" wheels is your choice. I prefer the mercury ones and my dealer made me a deal with tires that was hard to beat.
- Tinted Windshield is your choice. I went with CC but I wanted the slightly bronze tint as I have a Metallic Mocha body.
- Hidden Storage you can get from either CC or DoubleTake if you get the Max5/CC rear seat. Just go with the cheaper price.
- Side Mirrors I went with CC as i like they bolt on and I don't have to drill my struts. Gives me options for later on.
- Rear Cup Holder same as storage above
- Overhead Bluetooth. You have to get this at time of purchase as it them provides power run in the strut. It can be done after but was told just the cable is a stupid expense part.
- Not idea what a battery care kit is. Read this forum to learn how to care for the batteries.
- Brush Guard. If getting an Onward only the CC one fits. Nobody else makes one due to licensing.
- Fender Flares. I like the CC ones and have the Onward rears on my Precedent with CC XF ones in the front
- Hitch, see response above
- Golf bag holder - Same as hidden storage and cup holders. Be aware that if you are putting on the larger wheels and tires a lot of golf course WILL NOT let you use the cart on their course.

Hope that helps. Yes, a large chunk is the same. It just goes by what is cheaper. My CC dealer is awesome and most of my stuff is CC simply because he beat any of the prices for the aftermarket stuff. Also, if there was another color Onward that you want be sure to talk to your dealer. CC has a special order department and can make that happen. They just don't advertise it and some dealers don't seem to want to bother doing the paperwork.

The BATTERY CARE KIT is the single point watering system according to the CC brochure. A $200 option.

To the OP: These systems do not have a good reputation on this forum no matter who makes them. The alternative is that you have to periodically open the cap on each battery cell to check and/or add distilled water. This is not difficult or time consuming and you will KNOW each cell is properly serviced.

When these batteries crap out, normally 4-6 years, you can consider lithium and possibly eliminate all this battery watering nonsense.

Thanks for the referral sir.

To the original poster, If you can blow that image up and make it bigger to where I can see the part numbers on the items you want I'll be glad to help you out.

Wow, sorry everyone. I realized that I didn't have email notifications set up. I thought nobody was interested in the post!

We had some minor changes in our plans, the course we live on will not allow lifted carts on the course. I like the idea of having all of the electronics installed from the factory also. Thank you hunter99!

We are now looking at the following:

Onward 4 Passenger Electric
Premium Seating
Black Canopy
10" Atlas Wheels
Tinted Windshield
Hidden Storage
Side Mirrors
Rear Cup Holder
Overhead Bluetooth
Battery Care Kit
Fender Flares
Receiver Hitch
Golf Bag Holder
Canopy Grab Handles

TahoeDawgZ71, are you a dealer for club car?
