99 Ezgo surging at low speeds
Hi,
So I purchased a cart not long ago and the threaded rod that sits beside carb looked to have been tampered with. I have noticed that the cart will surge when barely pushing gas but runs fine when throttle is pushed further. I have read this could be the treaded rod out of adjustment. How do I adjust it? I have found no direct answers or videos. Thanks,Chris |

Re: 99 Ezgo surging at low speeds
I had that trouble once, the threaded rod that goes in front of the timing cover needed adjusting (that the one you're talking about?)
it has a small piece of cable in the middle of it and the rod needed to be adjusted loose enough to have some droop in it. |

Not gettin enough fuel at low idle... Whatever you have to do to correct that... may just need to clean the carb or adjust/clean the low idle needle

Re: 99 Ezgo surging at low speeds
I'd start with adjusting the pedal linkage and cables. Theres a couple nuts you can move the trigger point for the pedal switch under the floor inside the pedal box. I'd go for about an inch of pedal movement before the switch clicks.
Then go back to the governor cables. You want to adjust them so that the pedal switch clicks, but the throttle at the carb does not move. After another half inch if pedal travel from when the switch clicks is when you should see the carb just barely start to move. Do all this with the key off, obviously. If everything is working right, you should be able to slowly depress the pedal and have the starter/generator turn on, but engine not run. And press it another half inch or so and once the carb begins to open, it will start up and go. Adjust it like that and you'll be able to creep slow enough, you could get out and walk faster if you want. And it's not going to affect top speed, that's controlled by the tension on the spring on the governor (the one most folks crank the nut down on to speed it up). |

Stovebolt yes that's the one i was talking about that was messed with. They had it tightened down far as it would go so i backed it way off, but i guess it may need even more slack. CP241 sounds like a plan. I def don't hear a click before motor starts. If memory serves me right i hear the click as generator is turning engine over.

Re: 99 Ezgo surging at low speeds
Loosen it up so it hangs down about a 1/4 to 1/2" in the middle and try it.
