Are golf cart specific steering wheels required or will auto ones work?
There are some great steering wheels available for cars and are more in tune to what I want for my Precedent. I know I need the adapter, and it seems that they're all 6 hole. Providing I use a 6 hole steering wheel, are they all universal? I searched and didn't come up with an answer to this one.

Not all brands of wheels will fit all brands of adapters.

Call David with RevolutionGolfCars.com, Red Hawk makes Precedent "Hex Shaft" steering wheel adapters that fit 5 or 6 hole after market steering wheels.

be prepare for size difference, i'd imagine any car wheel to be 4" bigger at a minimum
