Lester charger question
2012 Precedent with a Lester model 26580, generation 3 (I think) charger. I went on vacation and when I returned the cart had quit charging. We had a couple of storms while I was gone and I don't know if that had anything to do with my problem. After doing a quick check of the systems, I think its the relay in the charger. OBC is still connected. I'm getting voltage to the charger from the OBC at the relay in the charger, battery pack is at 46 volts, circuit breaker on the charger checks out, relay in the charger doesn't click when connected to the cart. My question is, can I and how do I, bypass the relay in the charger to test if this is the problem. I've been meaning to bypass the OBC and replace the charger with a smart version but I wanted to diagnose the problem before doing so.

Re: Lester charger question
The OBC has to provide negative for the relay, so if you have 48v reaching the relay with it plugged into the cart, jumper the grey wire from the charge receptacle to pack negative and see if the charger turns on.
If it does, then the OBC failed. If it does not, the relay failed. |

Re: Lester charger question
Thank you Fairtax! I think I figured out it was the charger relay right after I posted this question. I forgot there was another CC on the farm with a ERIC charger so I plugged it up and the cart started charging. I'll bypass the OBC and get a smart charger for this cart. I wouldn't throw the old one away but if I put it on the shelf without diagnosing it, I wouldn't remember what was wrong with it. I'm sure large quantities of Coors light has nothing to do with my memory lapse.

Re: Lester charger question
Well that doesn’t exactly tell you what’s wrong with either one.
An ERIC charger will not charge an OBC cart unless you bypassed the OBC. |

Re: Lester charger question
Well, I'm not sure then. The OBC is not bypassed on this cart and the ERIC charger had brought it up to 56 volts before I returned it to the 2015 CC. I was under the impression that the ERIC charger and the OBC would work until they started to fight each other on the later stages of charge.
