I suspect klubber is a medic; this refers to insertion of an IV. While I am not as smart as klubber (I am just a dumb pool guy!), what is easy to some (like inserting an IV for klubber) is tough to others. I can build most anything, but the electrical stuff is very confusing to me. I think it is all what we are exposed to and comfortable with.

You guys that understand this electrical stuff have my envy!!

So i have a 2003 club car ds, that sounds like this is the issue goin on.keeps getting main drop out, low battery voltage fault codes. The fix is just Soldering a 10 amp Diode On the Grey wire off the controller? would adding Lithium batteries cause this to happen? the cart ran just fine then within 2 weeks of the Lithuim battery swap this satrts happening.

Thanks In Advance

You need to give us more details like:
What cart do you have Series or IQ ?
What Lithium pack are you using, brand or type of cells ?
What is your charging voltage ?
What Controller make/model do you have ?
What is your max voltage (cutoff voltage) setting on the controller ?
The issue that the main drop-out harness or the pin #9 diode fix is a false error caused during Regen brake.

When that happens the Controller itself turns the Solenoid OFF so there should not be a low voltage error.

It sounds like your Solenoid is actually dropping OFF which means the solenoid turned off without the controller being involved.

yea that seems like what's happening, the cart will start out great for 20 feet then just shut off, but once I slow down and reset the pedal it will drive again then shut down. never ran into this issue before.
I do believe its the IQ,
I installed the Allied Lithium 3 48v 30ah in series.
running stock Curtis controller 1510-5201
Im not sure what the cut-off voltage is set at and I didn't see that on the programmer

I hope that was just a typo and the 48v packs are in parallel.

It does not hurt anything adding the 10 amp diode to the gray wire, the side with the stripe should be on the controller side of the gray wire.

If You got a new charger for the Lithium batteries and connected to the pack You should also by-pass the OBC lockout circuit or you will eventually have problems.

Do You have a voltmeter installed on the cart so you can monitor the voltage as you drive?

If the contacts in your solenoid are starting to fail it would also cause this issue so if the diode does not fix the problem you may want to check or replace the solenoid.

By the way, are there any signs of the pre-charge resistor getting too hot like discoloration?

Yes sorry parallel not in series.
I did the by pass already for the charger
the cart has a standard Bar meter style SOC meter on dash and also one under the seat that is digital that came with the Allied batteries
I might just swap the solenoid for good measure.
as for the pre charge resistor don't look to be discolored or look to be getting to hot

thanks for the help

so I swapped out the solenoid, still getting the same thing cart drops out and throws low batt voltage.
drove it around with the programmer hooked up starts at 50v drops to 44-46v while driving then when it drops out it dropped all the way to 9.9v settled off at 12v until I stop an reset gas pedal then can take off again.
would this be a possible controller issue?
this one has me stumped.

The programmer was reading the Controller B+ voltage so it would drop when the solenoid opened.

The fact that it kept dropping suggests the Controller did not initiate the solenoid opening.

The 10 amp diode installed in the gray wire that goes to Controller pin #9 (stripped side towards controller) may solve your problem:

Allied Batteries may be your problem. There have been a few threads that I can remember about a similar issue. This one was posted some time ago, but the gist of it is Allied batteries have some issues with power output.

Dropping to 44v under load sounds to me like they just can’t provide enough current to keep the cart running.
