Are there cheaper options other than lithium but better than lead batteries?

No sir. Its FLA batteries or Lithium ion. Or convert to gas... (Yuk!)

What's your issue with the cart? If you want cheaper FLA batteries you can probably find some good used from a shop that converts fleet carts to custom carts. It's cheaper out of the gate, but ultimately not cost effective and it's basically pissing in bed...temporary relief.

If you want CHEAP batteries, try Sam's Club. about $89. each or so. those last about 3-5 years avg. Not the best but cheap!
