Default 1993 ds electric club car motor

this golf cart I have has new batteries but only goes 12-14 mph. I was thinking about replacing the motor because it is 2.97 hp 36 vdc model # 5bc5 8jbs 6163a.
I was thinking about a speedier motor I called d & d motors and they told me if I put in a bigger motor higher hp and speedier I will blow my resistors. any suggestions? another place I called told me a sky 170-002-0002 would get me up to 19mph. im confused can anyone tell me anything

That's a D&D part number there for sure, not sure what sky is. I would be hesitant on that if you have a 36v resistor cart. Those upgraded motors pull a lot of amps at 36v!

It all depends on terrain and length of rides to see if getting 19 to 20 out of a 36 volt cart is worth it.

Like Wacco47 said, check with Dave Hicks at Revolution. He will know for sure what will work best for you.
