Default 1987 DS 36V Question

I am new to golf carts and just purchased a 1987 Club Car DS 36V golf cart.

It’s in great shape with new batteries in 2019.

My question is, what should I expect for speed? I realize it isn’t going to be a speed demon, and I don’t need it to be.

I had it out a couple days ago and it would get up to about 10mph. Wasn’t sure if it should go faster or if that’s about what I should expect.

Thanks,

Gary

Not sure, I'll have to double check tonight. Haven't delved too deeply into it yet other than installing a battery meter and getting ready to install heavy duty rear leaf springs. Is there a good write up somewhere that explains how these things work?

I figured 10mph may be about all she has. That's fine, the campgrounds we'll use it at have 10mph speed limits anyway.

I have a 1987 with the 5 solenoids, and by myself i used to get around 14 to 15 mph on a flat road. Its been having some issues lately though so I max out around 12 by myself and about 10 with 3 to 4 people onboard.

Tire air pressure is very important on those carts . Fill them to the max they call for.

Hey if it matters, mooncarter was right for me. I just filled up all my tires to 32 psi and gained back about 2 mph more. I was able to run it at a consistent 13 to 14 where it was running 10 to 11 just before I filled the tires.
