When you torque that castle nut down it will draw the tie rod end down at least 1/4" maybe more. I think the steering link looks like it is sitting right. The other thing I would do is on the steering box check that upper mounting bolt (can't see it in the picture) is flush with the floorboard and you didn't catch a part of the floor mat.

That picture from inside looks right. The mounting area for the gear is not flat with the floor it is angled. I just checked my '92 and the steering column is just a index finger width from the bottom of the glove compartment moulding trim.
Have you jacked it up and turned it from side to side to see if there is any binding? |
