Why are the wires so long
2006 Club Car 48 V 4 12 volt batteries. The cables that jump between the batteries are 24 inches long. Do they need to be this long for a reson?

Someone could have just replace them with standard automotive cables. Can you tell what gauge they are?

Looks like #6. I was going to replace with#4 welding cable. I would like to shorten the up. Just did not know if they were long for a reason.

The factory 6 gauge wires are about 12 inches long.
