Default 1994 Medalist Controller

Thank you for this forum. When my wife's Medalist died last week, I used this forum for info and suspected the controller was the problem. Because I had to leave town, she had the dealer pick it up to evaluate and he confirmed it needs a new controller: cost to replace = $500. My question: Does this sound reasonable?
Thanks again,
Mike

It's a tolerable price if you are getting good quality parts. It would be helpful to know what controller they are intending to install.

If it's an Alltrax NPX, then that is way too high...
If it's an Alltrax AXE, we need to know the amperage.

If it's another brand, we need to know the model.

Thanks for the response... I will find out what their intention is.
Here's a likely related question: Do you suppose the failure of the controller had something to do with the fact that there are Five 8-volt Batteries hooked in series (40 v). There is clearly an empty Battery holder present for a 6th battery so I assume this is supposed to be a 36 v system. (This weekend was the first time I examined the battery compartment - my wife bought this cart used from the same guys who are intending to fix it).
I have yet to examine the Charger, but assuming this is a 36 v charger, can it adequately charge a 40 v system?

Mike

Call those jokers up and tell them to give your money back ... The charger can not maintain the batteries the batteries killed the controller... It's Hokey junk & they should refund your $ IMHO.
