Just for the record, I am not sure why the aftermarket gears are listed as 15:1 but the Manufacturer set is actually listed as 14.7:1.

Also, while the normal rear end oil is 30wt, E-Z-GO (at least here in Florida) has been using 80/90wt gear oil for well over a decade with no adverse effects.

AND, from what I have been told, these gear sets are "matched" which means you can't simply replace an input shaft is one is damaged/tweaked. The input shaft from a stock set of gears will not work with a ring gear designed for torque or either of the 2 sets designed for speed. If anyone has seen different, please let me know because that is what I have been told for years now....

Well guys I went back to stock for a while. Now i'm running the speed gears with no noise, BUT!!! now the durn thing slips at low end when it's W.O.T. or on steep hill. ????? I took it back apart and drill two holes and put in roll pins and still the same. I had PQ upgrade my D&D motor. So I'm not sure if the motor is doing this or is the 500 amp alltrax not able to handle all the amps at low end toque. I've tried to call plum quick to ask but after a few tries giving up. I'm hoping you guys here can help. Oh it did get up to 34mph on gps with 48volts going to it.

explain a little better what you mean by "slipping". are the axles slipping in the hubs? input shaft on the motor damaged?

It actually feels like a slipping clutch. It feels like its wanting to go then after a little drag it moves. Funny right Nothing in there gear wise can slip. The two gears together is intermediate shaft and I drill two hole and placed in roll pins. None of the splines on the motor have any wear nor the input shaft. I'm not sure if its the motor having brush spark or the altrax over loading and surging.

It sounds like you should put the stock gears back in it and see if the 'slipping' problem goes away?

At least that will tell you where to look for the problem......

I swapped motor back to stock and its worse. Took cover off rear end and its the motor for sure I think the controller is getting over loaded.
