The downside, maybe not in your case if you aren't stock, is either kit requires atleast a 10" wheel.

I agree, just trying to make sure that I am not missing something. I have adjusted the top screw all the way and it will still not give me any brake

Reversed? One shoe is about a 1/8th inch longer - I believe the long shoe goes in the front. You have to hold them side by side to be sure if you have long and short...
