I drilled a hole ( a Speed-Bor will work for your plastic body) right next to the charging port to install mine. I use that same socket to trickle charge my 12 v battery. The tip goes to +, the outer wall to - .

Wink Re: Installing 12 volt power outlet

Use the same 12 volt battery and hook red+ to center of outlet. Hook black - of battery to side of outlet. Done. You may want to put a inline fuse on one of them.

I like the idea of running it to a dedicated seperate battery but is there a way to isolate 12 volts out of your battery bank or is that a bad idea? I am thinking of adding a 12 volt power outlet for misc accessories - mostly running a small clamp on fan to blow on passengers while sitting still.

You can get 12V from any two adjacent 6V batteries in the pack. Connect a one wire from your accessory outlet to the Positive post of one battery and the other wire to the negative post of the other.
If the Amp draw is low, say an Amp or three, you probably won't cause any problems, but if it is high, it'll imbalance the battery pack and shorten the life expectancy of the batteries.

Installing a separate battery (Deep cycle type) for accessories, is best.

Thanks that makes sense and I have a battery for a trolling motor that we aren't using which I can put in the space I have on driver side.
