try leaving the f/r switch in neutral
post photos of everything when you can

I know this may sound like a shot in the dark, but you could try disconnecting things until you stop loosing voltage. If you put an amp meter on your battery pack then when you have no draw you have found the problem area.

first thing you disconnect will break the circuit ... now if he by-passes things he might find it

OK, so the charging circuit is out.... Key switch is good. I'm going to replace the microswitch's fairly soon anyway. (they did test OK). I have a solenoid sitting on the shelf - maybe replace the one clicking (I know that probably won't show anything).

One circuit at a time, I guess.....

Have you disconnected the 2 small wires from the two inner batteries?

this has me thinking ... i'm gonna try some things on an 83 and see what i can find ..will test and report back
