Default Need new controller... which one?

I have a 2000 36V EZGO Series and it has an Advanced 3.5HP @ 3500rpm motor installed. Motor was in the car when I purchased it and I have just added a 7" lift and 23" tires.

With the high speed motor (whuch was good with the stockers) I am assuming I am going to need more torque. I posted my trouble on here late last week and through testing have found the controller to be bad. So I would like to repalce it with on that is adequate for my new ratio with the taller tires and may be able to handle future upgrades as well.

Thanks.

Look into Alltrax AXE controllers. You can't go wrong there.

After a lot of reading here that seems to be the brand to look for.

Now which model will work the best for my combo? I see there is a programable version as well.

Thanks again.

I would use an AXE 400 or AXE 500 amp unit. Either one will allow for a 48v upgrade later.

Installed the AXE 400 today... still have an intermitant problem.

During acceleration I get a "stall" if you will, where the car will not get juice. Seems like it may be the FNR. Could this cause this type of action? And will the FNR not operating cause no juice flow to the Solenoid (no click)?

Thanks

Contacts could be dirty or corroded on the FNR or the throttle actuator could be intermittent.

Thanks dougmcp, I was going to check the FNR today but got called in to work. I am going to try and look at it tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I took the FNR apart and it was coroded a bit. Cleaned it up real well and re-installed. Car seem to work fine.

Then yesterday I was going to put it back in the garage and she started acting up again. With the key on I get no Solenoid action. This is the intermittent problem I have been chasing for weeks!

Could it be a bad keyswitch? When I move it from on to off several times it will work...

Sounds like it? You might want to check that the ITS thottle indicator signal to the controler is consistant and correct.

Been working all day, can't check for a problem when one doesn't exist! I think it's toying (rather say expletive!!!)with me. I did test the ITS, but when I did it tested good. I'll try again when it decides to act up again. Gonna start with the inexpensive solution first...keyswitch, and go from there.

Thanks
