Precedent Floor Mat shrinking?
Hello all, first time Precedent owner, decades-long DS owner. I purchased this ‘07 Precedent this way but had to ask because internet searches haven’t turned up anything. Is it common for this floor mat to shrink over time? It has shrunken so much there is a solid one inch gap around the outside edges where it should be flush up against the trim plastics. Seems so odd to me, even the part that fits over the lip around the petal assembly has shrunk and will no longer fit over it. It is brittle now also, any bending and it just breaks off - which I would expect that being 14 years old, just not the shrinking.

Yeah I've noticed the same effect on the precedents we have. Seems odd because the old DS mats don't do that.
Personally, I'd get some Diamond plate floor mat and just cut it to fit. |

Thanks for the reply. The part about it not happening to the DS mats is what really had me scratching my head.

Mine has shrunk about 3/8” on the same side as yours 09 garage kept

My 09 Precedent has shrunk some but not brittle at all.

Well bought a new one it was just as shrunk as my old one when it arrived. Sent it back got a new one and it was identical. The fit around the petals on these new units are perfect, however the sides were short by about 3/4" on each side. I'll probably just end up with one of those fancy covers to hide it.

Mine's a '14 Precedent. Same issue. Mine's 1/2" - 3/4" shy on each side. I have to pry on it some to get it to fit around the pedals, too. Mine's slathered in Armor All (or something), and plenty flexible. It actually looks pretty good - it's just too small, now.
I'm glad to hear that this is "a thing", but hate to hear that new ones aren't much better. Until I learn of a new mat that actually fits like it should, I will just live with this one. |
