Two straight vodkas beforehand can cure that problem, Terry. LOL!

See, I knew that I was missing some vital step in the process.

Thumbs up Re: How to drain/refill differential-2008 txt

Had a chance today to see firsthand how easy/difficult filling the differential is from the bottom. Actually, it really wasn't too bad. I decided to forgo changing fluid and opted for topping it off only. The differential actually holds a lot less oil than I had envisioned (just enough to cover the bottom 1/4 of the big gear).
I purchased some 90 wt outboard lower unit oil in a really handy small 8 oz. tube. I added 2 ft of 7/16 OD x 5/16 ID vinyl tube (a perfect fit) to the squeeze tube. I then poked the other end of the tubing up into the fill hole as far as I could and then just squeezed oil in until it overflowed (the differential was surprisingly low!!). I put the plug back in and was done. Was "VERY EASY" to do. Gear noise/whine is now a lot quieter. Hope this helps someone - thanks for all the responses. - RAY

They make a simple pump used in the marine industry for filling the lower unit on outboard motors, screws right on an oil container. As far as oil to use, Plum Quick used to suggest Royal Purple full synthetic on their website in a 30 weight or 5W30, can't remember the exact one and I don't think purple oil makes you go faster but it does match their purple Bandit theme. From what I have found, it only takes 10 ounces as stated before.

I did mine this spring. Took the cover off to clean out the diff, then re-mounted the cover. I lifted the rear of the cart as high as I could with my long reach floor jack and was able to fill it with 18.5 oz. of 80W-90 GL-5 gear oil. i might have to put some Lucas in there since my gears whine a little, but that's probably normal for a TXT.
