Default Buying First Cart - help with model

Decided on a Yamaha gas cart, nothing purchased yet. I guess the question is... if you could start with ANY cart, which would it be?

Using it for the lake, some mild hills, maybe get a snow blade. Like to lift it a little, make it faster and more capable. Not a workhorse or any towing, just a fun cart.

If I were to start again I would but a 4 stroke yamaha with a blown motor for dirt cheap and put the vegascarts kit in it. So let's say you get the cart for $300 and spend $1200 for the vegascarts conversion. You then have a $1500 cart with a brand new engine ,primary clutch, exhaust with a fair amount of power.I am sure others will have plenty of suggestions.

Thanks! Just got off the vegascarts site....why do I feel like I'm at the top of a slippery slope!? :-))

Anything to watch out for a used G22? Working on them looks pretty straight forward and parts/mods are cheap enough. I'm guessing it's best to buy a stock one and do my own mods? Not sure I want a FULL ON project that needs paint, but I'm fine with the bolt on and engine work. I'm seeing 2007 off lease carts for like $2500, same cart with a lift, rear seat, etc. for $4500. One thing I would be interested in is getting a good lift kit that will make it a little safer for my daughter to drive, less tippy.

Is "YDR" the newer style...non G22?

Lot's of newer ones for sale, not may G22! I'm in the KC area.

I did a G22 build, its in the thread, The G8 club, on page 444 if you care to look, There's some pretty good pictures of details that might help you decide. I think its the best car out there to hotrod!!

And Plowman can make it fast!!

So are the G22's "sought after"?? I mean there is like ONE for sale in the entire metro area!

Are the newer just not as mod-able?

with Mike

I can't speak for the 29's, but i don't think you can go wrong with a 22.

Is the 2007 a 29 or a 22? They overlapped that year...

Learned a lot just since I posted yesterday (thank you all)...it appears to be a 29. Thus there are a lot of 2007 around, all Drive models.

Looks like I can expect to pay the same for a 22 as a 29 if the 22 is in decent shape?
