Converting from pedal start to key start
I have a 91 DS that is pedal start and i would like to convert it to key start. I know i saw a thread here how to do it once before but cannot find it searching... Seems like lockman had posted it. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
I'm not sure it'll work on your 91, and it's not a "key start" mod, it's an "idle" mod!

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
On my 92, it was as simple as wiring around the contact switch

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
Tried it on my cart. Looks like it is different on the 88-91 carts. Tried it on my 91 and it did not work.

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
I'm guessing that it works for 92 thru (?) FE powered carts. If it doesn't work straight away, a noid light and a few minutes would probably allow you figure out a work-around.
Now - I'm curious about the 200 RPM spring mod. With 27-28 inch tall tires, I need to find some stall speed on the cheap. Does anyone know if the +200 RPM spring a stronger spring, or weaker? TIA Mike |

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
I have the 200 rpm spring in my clutch but it's been so long I couldn't tell you if it was stiffer or softer. It's cheap and easy to install though!

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
Thanks Matt,
is there enough room to do it with the engine in place and body on? (ie; flip the seat forward and git'er duunn) Were you happy with the results? Mike |

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
The clutch has to be removed from the motor to do it. With the lift on my cart the drive shaft is right in line with my frame so in my cart I had to pull the engine to do it. I have an after market motor in mine though so yours may be different...

Re: Converting from pedal start to key start
I managed to get my cart converted to pedal start by adding an automotive relay. I did have to jumper out the circuit at the f-n-r switch also. Will post info once I get it cleaned up.
