I posted this "Zip Tie" trick on another forum that I don't go to anymore... and, the Zip Ties are still in use today!
(Rather then retype it, or go back "there" again... I figured I'd copy and paste it to my notepad!)

Quote:
On my 07 FE350, I used two VERY small ZipTies... and, was able to pinch it between the cable end, and the spring, so it wouldn't bind, or relocate itself!

In the process of doing the Zip Tie, disconnect the limiter ground strap,
(the box on the lower, front of the engine,) remove... (do NOT cut!) the small wire w/eyelet
coming out of the box and going to the bolt on the left side holding the limiter on, reinstall the bolt and tape up the eyelet!
If you don't do this... the engine will "bounce" off of the limiter! (shut off and start back up) and will cause damage to your engine!

Next, set up a tachometer (I used a car tach with a spark plug wire sensor)
With the cart on jack stands, and in maintenance mode
Install the Zip Ties loosely, floor it, check the tach, release, adjust the ties evenly, and check again!

WATCH THE TACH!, and MAKE SURE you don't go over 4200 RPM's!!!
Anything more then that will cause damage to your engine!
(If you go over 4200 rpm's, cut the tie, and start over again!)

And... you MUST understand that your cart will go faster, and Injuries may incure!
(The last thing I would want to hear about, is someone getting hurt by doing this!)

REMEMBER!!!
4200 RPM's... Not 4400, Not 4300.... 4200 RPM'S!!!

Good luck! Have fun!, and MOST OF ALL... BE CAREFUL!!!

or, misusing this information that may cause possible damage to yourself, your property, or someone else!

Your '89 (KF82 flathead) is a different set up,
And, to be honest with you... I know "very little" about them!
(Sorry... I didn't pay attention to the year in your first post!)

Maybe someone else can chime in, and help!
Or... you could do a "search" for the KF82 (FZ340) engine... that may give you some info!

I haven't been on here in a while. I have an 89 Carryall 1 with the same engine. Everything is stock. I have read a lot on this and other forums and most in the know will tell you that the flathead is not meant to be hot rodded. Extra rpms usually mean a thrown rod. Don't know this myself but this is the general consensus on this engine.
