Roof fan project
Heres a few pics of my new project I started. Had a 12" electric radiator fan I didnt need in the garage and figured I would put it to use. Its not turning out to bad I dont think .The wife sure was looking at me strange when she saw me standing on the seat going at it with a jig saw to the roof!!
Its not loud like I thought it would be and puts out alot of air. It sits almost flush with top and bottom of roof. Im thinking of getting one of those RV roof vent covers to rig up top so I can take it off when I want to use the fan,or put it back on when not in use. Probably go with the low profile smoke colored one. I will wait till Friday to do all the finishing touches once I get a few beers in me. Thats when I do my best work!! |

Re: Roof fan project
That looks like fun .... let us know if the roof sags at all.... reason I say that is because I bought an ezgo with a moon roof and had to replace the sagging roof but it was a much bigger hole and prolly heavier too

Re: Roof fan project
No sagging at all. You can see in the pics. The fan dont weigh much and only a 12" hole. Next will be the wiring. Since the roof is hollow, that should be very easy to hide the wires. Prob just drill a tiny hole on the back of roof next to the roof strut, then run the wires inside the roof strut down to the battery. Should be very clean. Thinking I will put a switch up by the fan.

Carolina A/C at it's finest!!!
looks like a clean install as well. How about some type of mini hood scoop mounted backwards to keep rain out and wouldn't have to take off and on? |

Re: Roof fan project
Heres some not so good pics of it done. Put a cover on top and made it spring loaded to stay open when I want to run the fan. Other pic shows the toggle switch I put in the roof next to fan and what it looks like closed. Really dont look bad I dont think but gets the job done.
Excuse the ripped up seats in the pics, |
