Default WTB, G1 clutch parts

Yes I know this does not belong here. I posted this in the parts section months ago and it did not appear to be seen.

I am looking for the outer cover and weights that are in a rebuildable condition for the 4 weight primary clutch.

If anyone whom has changed out your original clutch I am interested in buying your old parts.

I see there is a clutch in the for sale section, I do see a way for me to delete my post, but I still need a usable cover.

Charlie, I replaced all 4 weights, the pins and the nylon washers for $130. The rest I cleaned up and inspected. The old sprimg was fine. Was your cart missing the clutch entirely? These parts are still available from Yamaha.

In mine the weights have worn sideways past the washers and deep into the cover to the point that part of the screw heads have worn away.

I just found the cover new is just $40ish at Gilberts if it is available still. Cheaper at Partzilla but listed as obsolete from them.

I believe I got my parts from Gilbert as well but they ordered from Yamaha. You might explore getting them from Yamaha direct, Any Yamaha motorcycle dealer should be able to order them and you save shipping costs.

The dealers pricing is considerably higher than Gilberts and other discount places and I do not need to drive multiple hour trips.
Basically where I live I ship most everything other than groceries.

I thought Gilberts gave me a good price as well. When I was deciding on whether or not to repair mine I talked to Don Plowman. He told me to send him my clutch and he would send me a completely rebuilt one for about $300. Just throwin things out there for you.........

I wonder if Plowman's rebuilt clutch has reworked sheaves?

I can't imagine Don putting anything out that wasn't 100%. He's a stickler about that stuff.

I hope to call Gilberts and find out if the cover and sheave are available.
On the secondary I had plenty of material to remachine the face so it was straight, I have not measured the primary sheave to see how much meat it has in it.

I would presume Don's price includes machining the faces or replacement as needed.
Replacement is obviously dependent if Yamaha still can supply the parts which Partzilla shows as obsolete.
If they are no longer supplied then it is pot luck to find old stock on a dealer's shelf.
