Yamaha Rhino vs. ?
I took an '06 Rhino 450 out for a test drive yesterday, contemplating a purchase. The power was fine, as this is going to be for my dad to plow the driveway in the winter. But, the problem I noticed is that when in 4x4 low, the steering was VERY difficult. Is this a problem on all models? My dad is getting older and doesn't want to wrestle the cart, just to do the driveway. What about the Polaris RZR, Ranger or Artic Cat Prowler, do they have the same issue?
Please help me figure out if this was a problem with just this cart, or if this is a problem due to lack of power steering or what? Thanks for your input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Probably if wasnt slick and you had it 4x4 low it was gripping too hard and it was making it difficult. Everything will be hard to steer in 4x4 if its dry, even like trucks and stuff.

Yamaha4life is correct on this one! 4X4 on dry pavement is no good. 4X4 on mud or snow is the BOMB! I can't wait till winter!

Re: Yamaha Rhino vs. ?
i thought i had read somewhere that some of the new quads had power steering. But that was a quad and not a sidexside.
maybe someday -Aaron |

Re: Yamaha Rhino vs. ?
a rhino doesnt really have a 4 low like a truck. it has high and low on the trans. and then the DIFF has 2wd option, 4wd, or 4wd DIFF LOCK which is all 4 tires 100% locked together so it will be crazy hard to steer on a hard surface. much easier in snow or mud. but it will go ANYWHERE in diff lock. crazy what it will do.
it was rumored on the totally yamaha forum about a power steering equiped rhino but i havent seen anything concrete on this. expect another 500-600 on the price tho. |

Re: Yamaha Rhino vs. ?
I know people who have tested them all and they have said that the ride in the Rhino does not even compare to that of the Arctic Cat
(specialize in snowmobiles) or the Polaris. |

Re: Yamaha Rhino vs. ?
The 450 Rhino is under powered. You should lok at a 650 or newer 700. Lots of small engine Rhino's out there for sale, probably because of the power issue.
My 2 cents... |
